The Remodel Project

On the one hand, the church is the people, not a building; but on the other hand, we need a place to meet.  At times, MCC has rented facilities away from our own property as an experiment, and found that remaining in our historic location worked best.

The difficult side of this is that we have a 100 year old building which is not ADA compliant.  As a result, for a number of years there has been discussion as to what we can do about this, and we are slowly planning to do a major remodel project that would do two things: A) Provide easier access to the sanctuary and Fellowship Hall; B) Provide ADA access to the restrooms or build additional restrooms.

In order to do this, the most likely solution will be to rebuild the front part of the church and install an elevator, as wheelchair ramps would demand a great deal of space to meet the slope requirements.

While a basic design has been unofficially endorsed, we have not committed to any plan or builders at this point, but hopefully within the next few years we will be able to host people with mobility limitations.
